Svetlana Aksenova Replaces Angel Blue in Bayerische Staatsoper’s ‘La Bohème’

Soprano Svetlana Aksenova will replace Angel Blue in the role of Mimì in Puccini’s “La bohème” at the Bayerische Staatsoper for the performances on Jan. 5, 7 & 9, 2022.

Aksenova joins a cast that includes Emily Pogorelc in the role of Musetta, Evan LeRoy Johnson as Rodolfo, Roman Burdenko as Marcello, Andrei Kymach as Schaunard, and Nicholas Brownlee as Colline. The cast also includes Joel Williams, Christian Rieger, Martin Snell, Theodore Platt, and Andrew Gilstrap.

Francesco Lanzillotta conducts a production by Otto Schenk, with set and costume design by Rudolf Heinrich.

Aksenova is a well-known soprano who has appeared at the Opéra National de Paris, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Theater an der Wien, National Theatre Prague, Dutch National Opera, Royal Swedish Opera, and Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liège, among others.

Blue is scheduled to return to the stage for the performances of Gounod’s “Faust” at the Opéra national de Paris in June and July 2022.
