Susanna Phillips Headlines Boston Baroque Live Streaming Platform

By David Salazar

Boston Baroque has launched Boston Baroque Live its first-ever live recorded performance streaming platform.

The first performance to be featured on the platform will be Handel’s “Agrippina” with a cast headlined by Susanna Phillips as Agrippina,  David Hansen as Nero, Amanda Forsythe as Poppea, Ken Deas as Claudius, and Martin Pearlman at the podium.

In addition to the performance, audiences can check out archival clips and audio excerpts from other recordings.

The performance will be available for free for 30 days starting April 27, 2020 before it eventually heads to Amazon Prime Video where it will remain free for Prime members and will be available to rent for $1.99.

“I’m excited that Boston Baroque can start offering some of our recent performances online,” stated Music Director Martin Pearlman in a press release. “It feels especially meaningful to bring our music to a wider audience during these anxious times, when people need the inspiration of the arts more than ever. Combining our early instruments with modern technology seems like the perfect way to do that.”
