On July 1, 2023, Sunset Sounds will present a semi-staged performance of Purcell’s “The Fairy Queen.”

Held in the gardens of Wyke House in Somerset, the performance will feature readings of poetry and excerpts from Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” which have been carefully selected by the artists to shape the libretto. The performance will transition between two areas of the garden, with a picnic intermission allowing the audience to enjoy the picturesque surroundings.

Conductor Margaret Faultless will lead the Music for A While ensemble, and the cast will include Somerset-based performers such as soprano Amy Carson, Emily Vine, tenor Thomas Hobbs, and bass-baritone Timothy Dickinson. Tickets are available starting at 35 Pounds.
