Stephen Lord Will Not Conduct Opera Maine’s ‘The Magic Flute’

Stephen Lord will not conduct Opera Maine’s production of ‘The Magic Flute.”

Opera Maine has release statement noting, “Opera Maine was saddened to learn of allegations of sexual harassment against Maestro Stephen Lord. Opera Maine has never received a complaint of sexual harassment against Maestro Lord. In the best interests of Opera Maine, we have come to the mutual agreement that he will not conduct our production of The Magic Flute this summer. The performances will continue as scheduled.”

Lord was accused of sexual harassment and was forced to resign his position at the Michigan Opera Theater and Opera Theatre of Saint Louis.

“The Magic Flute” is scheduled to open on July 24 for two performances and will be directed by Dona D. Vaughn and will star Geoffrey Agpalo, Brandie Sutton, Kathryn Bowden, Robert Mellon, and Hidenori Inoue.
