State Opera South Australia Presents ‘G&S FEST’

The State Opera South Australia is set to present “G&S FEST,” a 10-day-long celebration of the work of W.S. Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan.

Marking International Gilbert & Sullivan Day (May 3) the State Opera South Australia will put on full productions of “Trial by Jury,” “H.M.S. Pinafore,” “Pirates of Penzance,” and “The Sorcerer.” Other celebratory events include a G&S-themed high tea titled “Mad Songs of Englishmen,” movie screenings, a quiz night, a lunch hosted by Jane Doyle, and the recital “Sullivan in Love.”

The cast of “H.M.S. Pinafore” includes Nicholas Jones, Jessica Dean, Jeremy Kleeman, Ben Mingay, and Antoinette Halloran. James Pratt conducts the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra. Ben Mingay leads the cast of “The Pirates of Penzance” with John Longmuir, Desiree Frahn, Douglas McNicol, and Antoinette Halloran. Anthony Hunt conducts. Jeremy Tatchell, John Longmuir, Aidan Hodder, and Cherie Boogaart star in “The Sorcerer” alongside 150 G&S enthusiasts and community choirs.

“G&S FEST” will take place May 11 – 21 in various locations throughout Adelaide.
