On Saturday, Oct. 24, a labor accident occurred at the Gran Teatre del Liceu during a rehearsal of “I Capuleti e I Montecchi.”

The Liceu confirmed that the incident took place on its premises and that it affected a member of the stage team.

According to the theater, the company has made it a priority to “guarantee care for the affected person.”

The Liceu added, “In accordance with the established procedures, the Liceu activated the corresponding action protocols and made the pertinent communications to the competent authorities. The necessary actions have been initiated to determine the circumstances of the events. While these are in progress, the Liceu will not advance any conclusions about the causes.”

In order to respect the privacy of the family and the person affected, the theater did not reveal the identity of those involved.

“I Capuleti e I Montecchi” will open on Oct. 30 and is set to star Lisette Oropesa, Raffaella Lupinacci, Marko Mimica, and Iván Ayón-Rivas. Riccardo Frizza conducts the production by Allex Aguilera.
