The Staatstheater Wiesbaden has announced a cast change for its world premiere of “Oryx and Crake.”

The company said that Anastasiya Taratorkina will sing the role of Oryx replacing the originally announced Heather Engebretson.

Taratorkina is a first prize winner and audience award winner of the ARD International Music Competition 2021, and is now an ensemble member of the Staatstheater Wiesbaden where she has performed Gilda, Marzelline, Gretel, and Sophie in “DerRosenkavalier.” This season she is set to make her Semperoper Dresden debut alongside Rolando Villazón.

The soprano joins a cast that includes Christopher Bolduc, Samuel Levine, Benjamin Russell, Fleuranne Brockway, and Mikhail Biryukov. Albert Horne conducts the production by Daniela Kerck.

“Oryx and Crake” opens on Feb. 18 and runs through April 21, 2023.
