Premieres
Gabriel Venzago conducts a new production by Angela Denoke of Korngold’s “Die Tote Stadt.”
Premiere Date: Oct. 18, 2025
Samuel Hogarth will conduct a new production of Rossini’s “La Cenerentola.” Stephanie Kuhlmann directs.
Premiere Date: Nov. 29, 2025
Julia Kerr’s “Der Chronoplan” will be directed by Lorenzo Fioroni and conducted by Gabriel Venzago.
Premiere Date: Jan. 24, 2026
Paul-Johannes Kirschner conducts “Der Kaiser von Atlantis” in a production by Ana Cuéllar Velasco.
Premiere Date: Feb. 22, 2026
“Die Zauberflöte” gets a production by Dominik Wilgenbus with musical direction by Gabriel Venzago.
Premiere Date: March 14, 2026
Mazzoli’s “Breaking the Waves” will be conducted by Dirk Kaftan and directed by Krystian Lada.
Premiere Date: April 26, 2026
“Wer will ein Stück vom Pustekuchen,” an opera for children, will also get a showcase.

Verena Stoiber directs Verdi’s “Falstaff” with Gabriel Venzago conducting.

Leoš Janáček’s rarely performed “Das schlaue Füchslein” will be revived at the Großes Haus.

Samuel Penderbayne’s “Die Schneekönigin” returns to the Mainz Opera House.

Concerts
Alexandra Samouilidou performs in the first symphony concert in a program of music by Mozart, Joan Tower, Beethoven, Copland, and Rachmanioff. Gabriel Venzago conducts.
Performance Dates: Sept. 12 & 13, 2025
Nadja Stefanoff and Verena Tönjes perform Mahler’s Symphony No. 2 with Gabriel Venzago conducting. Music by Fritz Kreisler will also be performed.
Performance Dates: April 10 & 11, 2026
Karsten Storck conducts Puccini’s Messa di Gloria. The concert also includes music by Giovanni Gabrieli.
