Germany’s Staatstheater Mainz has announced its 2024-25 season.

Premieres

Mozart’s “Idomeneo” will be conducted by Hermann Bäumer and directed by Alexander Nerlich. The opera stars Vasyl Solodkyy and Krystian Adam in the title role. Joining them are Nadja Stefanoff, Karina Repova, Alexandra Uchlin, Julietta Aleksanyan, and Dorin Rahardja.

Offenbach’s “Die schöne Helena” will be performed in a new production by Cordula Däuper. Samuel Hogarth conducts.

Samuel Penderbayne’s “Die Schneekönigin” will be conducted by Paul-Johannes Kirschner and directed by  Stephanie Kuhlmann. The work stars Dorin Rahardka, Daniel Semischko, Alexandra Uchlin, and Tamara Kurti.

Honegger’s “L’Aiglon” will be directed by Luise Kautz and conducted by Hermann Bäumer.

Philip Glass’ “The Fall of the House of Usher” will be directed by K.D. Schmidt and conducted by Paul-Johannes Kirschner.

Premiere Date: Feb. 14, 2025

Philip Venables’ “4.48 Psychose” will get a new production by Rahel Thiel. The opera will be conducted by Samuel Hogarth.

Premiere Date: April 26, 2025

Puccini’s “Turandot” will get a new production by Ulrich Schneider. Gianluca Falaschi will conduct.

Premiere Date: May 17, 2025

Janáček’s “Das schlaue Füchslein” will be conducted by Hermann Bäumer and directed by Erik Raskopf.
