Staatstheater Kassel Announces July Reopening

The Staatstheater Kassel has announced that it will reopen its doors to live audiences in July 2021.

The opera house will present two works for the summer reopening.

First up is Elena Kats-Chernin’s “Der Wind in den Weiden” which will showcase Vero Miller, Daniel Holzhauser, Younggi Moses Do, Cozmin Sime, Lin Lin Fan, Bassem Alkhouri, and Bernhard Modes. Mario Hartmuth conducts the production by Sonja Trebes.

Performance dates: July 2 – 14, 2021

The opera house will then perform Händel‘s “Alcina” in a concert version. The opera will star Maren Engelhardt as Ruggiero, Lin Lin Fan as Morgana, Marta Herman as Bradamante, Younggi Moses Do as Oronte, Daniel Holzhauser as Melisso, and Elizabeth Bailey in the title role. Jörg Halubek conducts.

Performance dates: July 7 – 15, 2021

The Staatstheater Kassel is the latest German opera house to announce summer reopening, following a decline in the 7-day incidence numbers throughout the country. The current 7-day incidence in Kassel stands at 43.9.
