The Staatstheater Darmstadt is set to present “L’incoronazione di Poppea” this April.

The Monteverdi Opera will open on April 14, 2026 and runs through May 23 for a total of four performances. The opera will be directed by Karsten Wiegand, whose opera credits throughout Germany include productions of “Orfeo ed Euridice,” “Maria Stuarda,” “Faust,” “Aida,” “Hyperion,” and “Rigoletto,” among others.

Clemens Flick will conduct. The cast will be announced at a later date.
