Staatstheater Cottbus Announces 2023-24 Season

The Staatstheater Cottbus has announced its 2023-24 season. Here is a look at the vocal performances.

Premiere 

“Wiener G’schichten” will be conducted by Frank Bernard.

Premiere Date: Oct. 6, 2023

Alexander Merzyn will conduct Strauss’ “Der Rosenkavalier” in a new production by Tomo Sugao.

Premiere Dates: Oct. 14, 2023

“Die Bremer Stadtmusikanten” will be conducted by Johannes Zurl and directed by Johannes Oertel.

Premiere Date: Nov. 12, 2023

Prokofiev’s “The Love for Three Oranges” will be directed by Tomo Sugao. Johannes Zurl conducts.

Premiere Date: Jan. 27, 2024

Armin Petras directs a new production of Puccini’s Tosca.” The opera will be conducted by Alexander Merzyn. 

Premiere Date: April 13, 2024

“Die menschliche Stimme” and Poulenc’s “La Voix Humaine” will be performed in a double bill with Claudia Meyer directing. Michael Wilhelmi conducts.

Cordula Däuper directs “Sweeney Todd” with Johannes Zurl conducting.

Christian Möbius conducts a baroque concert with music by Schütz, Johann Christoph Bach, Antonio Bertali, Pavel Josef Vejvanovský, and Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber. Anne Martha Schuitemaker, Meike Funken, Rahel Brede, Jenny Bleidorn, Matthias Bleidorn, Florin Emilian Caliţa, Alexander Trauth, and Philipp Mayer are the soloists.

Alexander Merzyn conducts Mahler Symphony No. 3 with Helena Köhne.
