Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz Announces 2023-24 Season

The Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz has announced its 2023-24 season. Here are the opera productions.

Rubén Dubrovsky and  Michael Balke conducts Mozart’s “Die Zauberflöte” in a production by Josef E. Köpplinger.

Performance Dates: Oct. 22, 2023-July 7, 2024

Rossini’s “La Cenerentola” returns in Brigitte Fassbaender’s production. Oleg Ptashnikov conducts. 

Performance Dates: Nov. 3-Dec. 19, 2023

Bernd Mottl directs Puccini’s “La Bohème.”

Performance Dates: Nov. 11-Dec. 8, 2023

Humperdinck’s “Hansel and Gretel” returns for the holiday season. Conductors Michael Balke, Anthony Bramall, and Oleg Ptashnikov alternate in the pit.

Performance Dates: Nov. 30, 2023-Jan. Jan. 4, 2024

Bizet’s “Les Pêcheurs de Perles” will be conducted by Sébastien Rouland.

Performance Dates: Jan. 5-14, 2024

Michael Balke and Rubén Dubrovsky conduct Mozart’s “Le Nozze di Figaro.” Josef E. Köpplinger directs a cast that includes Daniel Gutmann, Ludwig Mittelhammer, Jennifer O’Loughlin, Ana Maria Labin, Mária Celeng, Sophie Mitterhuber, Levente Páll, Timos Sirlantzis, Anna-Katharina Tonauer, and Sophie Rennert.

Performance Dates: Feb. 18-March 10, 2024

Michael Brandstätter and Oleg Ptashnikov star in Rossini’s “Il Barbiere di Siviglia.” 

Performance Dates: March 3-26, 2024

Rubén Dubrovsky conducts Nicolai’s “The Merry Wives of Winsdor.” Brigitte Fassbaender directs.

Performance Dates: April 26-June 2, 2024

Anthony Bramall conducts Bellini’s “La Sonnambula.” 

Performance Dates: June 7-July 3, 2024
