The Staatsoper Stuttgart is set to present Strauss’ “Die Frau ohne Schatten” directed by David Hermann.

The production marks the first new production of the season and will be conducted by Cornelius Meister. The cast includes Benjamin Bruns (as Emperor), Simone Schneider (as Empress), Evelyn Herlitzius (as Nurse), Iréne Theorin (as Barak’s Wife), and Martin Gantner (as Barak).

The production was originally planned to debut as stage director in Stuttgart in the 2020-21 season but due to restrictions of the pandemic, Hermann debuted instead with the Stuttgart premiere of “Das Lied von der Erde,” a staged version of Gustav Mahler’s symphonic Lied cycle in October 2020.

“Die Frau ohne Schatten” will open on Oct. 29 and will rung through Dec. 2, 2023.
