The Staatsoper Hamburg has announced a cast change for its production of “Manon.”

The company noted that Pretty Yende will take over the title role of “Manon“ in the performance on Feb. 9, 2022 as Elbenita Kajtazi remains ill.

Yende sang the title role during the Feb. 4 performance and recently starred in Hamburg’s production of “La Traviata.” She has previously sung the title role of “Manon” at the Paris Opera. This season she returns to the Royal Opera House for “Don Pasquale” and “La Traviata.” She also sings at the Wiener Staatsoper and the Teatro San Carlo.

The soprano joins a cast that includes Enea Scala as Des Grieux, Wilhelm Schwinghammer as Der Graf Des Grieux, and Thomas Oliemans as Lescaut. Nicolas André conducts.

Elbenita Kajtazi returns to the production for the final performance on Feb. 12, 2022.
