Staatsoper Hamburg Announces Cast Change for ‘Luisa Miller’

The Staatsoper Hamburg has announced a cast change for its revival of Verdi’s “Luisa Miller.”

The company noted that in performances on March 27 and 31, Charles Castronovo will take over the role of Rodolfo for Joseph Calleja.

Calleja took to social media and said that due to exposure to COVID, he has was forced to cancel. The tenor has, however, tested negative for the virus.

Castronovo recently performed a production of “Lucia di Lammermoor” at the Bayerische Staatsoper and is also set to perform “Madama Butterfly” and “La Bohene” with teh Munich company. He is also set to sing “Manon” at the Wroclaw Opera in Poland.

Paolo Arrivabeni conducts “Luisa Miller” which is also set to star Vitalij Kowaljow, Franco Vassallo, Nino Machaidze, Alexander Roslavets, and Elena Maximova.
