The Staatsoper Berlin has announced a cast change for “Rigoletto.”

Sofia Fomina will sing the role of Gilda for the Feb. 17 performance, replacing Erin Morley who tested positive for COVID-19.

Morley took to social media and said, “Welp, COVID finally arrived at my door! I’m doing just fine — grateful to be vaccinated and boosted. Sending all the positive juju to my ‘Rigoletto’ cast for the performance tomorrow, especially to Sofia Fomina who will jump in as Gilda! See y’all on the 24th.”

Fomina, who has performed at the Royal Opera, Theater an der Wien, and Paris Opera, joins a cast that includes Christopher Maltman, Saimir Pirgu, Grigory Shkarupa, and Marina Prudenskaya. Ivan Repušić conducts the Bartlett Sher production.

“Rigoletto” continues through March 4 with Morley singing the final two performances.
