St. Petersburg Opera Company Cancels Gallery Songs Program Due to COVID-19

By Francisco Salazar

The St. Petersburg Opera Company in Florida has canceled its Jan. 8th Gallery Songs Program.

The company noted it is “committed to health and safety and its artists, staff, and volunteers. Unfortunately, due to the rapid spread of the highly contagious Omicron variant in our community and considering our health concerns about large crowds with our performing (and unmasked) artists, we have decided to cancel our January 8th Gallery Songs program and our participation in the Saturday ArtWalk.”

The company also noted that it will institute new safety measures moving forward that align with CDC guidelines.

The St. Petersburg Opera is set to present “Semele” in February with Holly Flack in the title role, Kyle Tomlin, and Sara Couden.
