Spotlight Artists is set to present the Ukrainian music concert “Chervona Kalyna” on Sept. 20, 2026, at the 2nd Street Cathedral in Manhattan’s East Village.

The program, which marks the 35th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence, will be headlined by pianist Alexander Chaplinskiy, mezzo-soprano Galina Ivannikova, pianist Yuliya Basis and violinist and composer Andy Didorenko performing as a duet, and violinist YoonJung Hwang.

“Ukrainian music is deeply sensual and vibrant, with a striking emotional range, from intimate lament to exuberant celebration,” Natalie Burlutskaya, Director of Spotlight Artists, said, per an official press release. “Our program features Andy Didorenko, a contemporary Ukrainian composer whose lyrical writing for piano and strings brings a distinctive voice to the program. Alexander Chaplinskiy presents works by Serge Bortkievicz. Galina Ivannikova performs Ukrainian folk pieces as well as Shinkarka’s Song from Alexander Rodin’s opera ‘Kateryna,’ which we premiered in our previous production, ‘Ukrainian Rhapsody.'”

The concert kicks off at 2 p.m. local time.
