Spotlight Artists Management and Production to Present ‘Russian Music Masterpieces’

By David Salazar

Spotlight Artists Management and Production is set to present “Russian Music Masterpieces,” a concert dedicated to the 120th anniversary of St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Cathedral in New York City.

The showcase, which will also celebrate the 75th birthday of Patriarch Kirill, will feature scenes from Tchaikovsky’s “The Queen of Spades,” opera arias and art songs by Tchaikovsky, Glinka, and Rachmaninoff. There will also be Russian spiritual music and some instrumental works by Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninoff.

The program will star tenor Mikhail Urusov, soprano Zoya Gramagin, mezzo-soprano Eugenia Forteza, tenor Pavel Sullandziga, pianists Alexander Chaplinsky, Nikita Stephanenko, Raina Wang, and the St. Nicholas Cathedral Chamber Chorus.

St. Nicholas Cathedral is the main orthodox parish beyond Russia and this event will represent the cathedral’s first collaboration with an arts organization.

“We are honored to produce such an important music event for the Cathedral. It means a lot of responsibility and joy at the same time. We want to bring opera to people who feel intimidated or financially unable to attend big opera houses.” said Spotlight Artists Management and Production co-founder Natalie Burlutskaya.
