South Shore Opera Company of Chicago To Celebrate 10th Anniversary With Gala Concert

The South Shore Opera Company of Chicago is set to celebrate its 10th anniversary with a concert gala on Oct. 27, 2019.

The event, which will take place the Robeson Theater & Solarium in Chicago, will feature a wide range of major artists Carl Alexander, Warnell Berry, Jeffrey Burish, Brandon Brown, Dana Campbell, Leah Dexter, Adrian Dunn, Cornelius Johnson, Kimberly Jones, Joelle Lamarre, Luther Lewis, Elizabeth Norman, Adrienne Price, Robert Sims and Vince Wallace.

Pianist Paul Hamilton and a chamber orchestra will also perform with the company’s founder, Dr. Marvin Lynn appearing as a special guest.

The concert will feature selections from William Grant Still’s “Troubled Island” as well as musical moments from Okoye’s “Harriet Tubman” and Allen’s “The Poet.” There will also be selections from Mozart, Verdi, Puccini, Bizet, Gershwin, and more. The event will also highlight such legends as Jessye Norman, André Previn, and Toni Morrison.
