Soprano Sophie Witte Joins Orquesta Filarmónica de Bogotá For Concert At Teatro Mayor Julio Mario Santo Domingo

The Orquesta Filarmónica de Bogotá will team up with German soprano Sophie Witte for a concert at the Teatro Mayor Julio Mario Santo Domingo. The concert is slated for Friday, April 6, 2018.

The soprano is set to appear in the premiere of Carlisle Floyd’s “The Mystery, which is inspired by the texts of Chilean poet Gabriela Mistra. The work takes the listener through a journey of five songs relating the mystery of maternity.

The program is also set to feature a few works by Ralph Vaughn Williams and Edward Elgar, including the latter’s Symphony No. 1 in A Major, Op. 55.

The orchestra will be led by Estonian conductor Mihkel Kütson.

Witte is a rising star of the opera world, making her debut with the Royal Philharmonic of London in 2017. Among her signature roles to date are Adina in “L’Elisir d’Amore,” and Euridice in Offenbach’s “Orpheus and the Underworld,” among others.
