Soprano Sara Schabas Wins Major Award From IRCPA

By David Salazar

Soprano Sara Schabas is the recipient of the International Resource Centre for Performance Artists’s “Career Blueprint” award.

The announcement was made on Monday evening after the “New Singers” concert at the Zoomer Hall in Toronto. Schabas performed “Mir is die Ehre widerfahren” from Richard Strauss’ “Der Rosenkavalier.” Among those in attendance were IRCPA founder and director Ann Summers Dossena and famed coach Joan Dornemann, who had encouraged Summers to found IRCPA 35 years ago.

Per a press release, Schabas will spend three days at the National Opera Center in NY where “new photographs, video and audio recordings, website consultation, mentoring with professionals, and more are provided.”

Schabas was selected by Canadian soprano Adrianne Pieczonka who had worked with the young artist and others during the “Encounter,” which had been organized by IRCPA.

Schabas received a scholarship with the organization in honor of the soprano Lois Marshall.
