She has appeared in several operas, including Mozart’s “Don Giovanni,” Verdi’s “Rigoletto,” and Monteverdi’s “L’incoronazione di Poppea,” among others.

Minnaar directed her first opera in 2004 as part of the Soft Serve Arts Festival in Cape Town. Minnaar has subsequently directed numerous operas and musical theatre works, including Monteverdi’s “L’Orfeo” for the Cape Town Opera, Puccini’s “La bohème” for the Innibos Festival, Mozart’s “Die Zauberflöte” (recycled version) for the Johannesburg International Mozart Festival, “Bastien und Bastienne” for the Gauteng Opera, Poulenc’s “La Voix Humaine” for the Impac Festival, and South African musical-opera “Calling Us Home,” among others.

In 2010, she started Biblioteek Productions, which provides a platform for artists and creatives to collaborate on theatrical music productions and conceptual experiences.

Minnaar will take over her new position on Jan. 1, 2022.
