Soprano Lucy Shelton To Perform At National Sawdust This December

Legendary soprano Lucy Shelton is set to perform at the National Sawdust on Dec. 15, 2019.

She will present a program formatted as a five-course meal with Shelton spontaneously selecting the order of the “courses.”

Per a press release, the appetizers will feature music of Stravinsky, John Cage, and George Rochberg. “Soups” will showcase music of Stravinsky and Rochberg, while the “Salads” will be comprised of music by Karl Kohn, Stravinsky, and Elliott Carter. The “Main Courses” include pieces by Ruth Crawford Seeger and Jacob Druckman while the deserts are represented by such composers as Miriam Gideon, Shulamit Ran, Rochberg, and Stravinsky.

Throughout her career, Shelton has premiered over 100 works and has performed with a wide range of chamber ensembles including Emerson, Brentano, and Guarneri string quartets, the Lincoln Center Chamber Music Society, eighth blackbird, Klangform Wien, and Ensemble Intercontemporain.
