Soprano Lee Sang Eun Found Dead at 46

On July 6, Soprano Lee Sang Eun was found dead in a bathroom minutes before her performance of “Carmina Burana.”

The soprano, who was 46, was found lifeless in the concert venue’s third-floor women’s bathroom. According to a police investigation, there is no foul play suspected and details of the autopsy report have not been made public.

Eun graduated from Seoul National University before getting her Master’s degree from the Mannes School Of Music in New York. She went onto compete at the National Opera Competition in South Korea, the Metropolitan Opera Competition in New York, the Connecticut Opera Competition, and The Olga Koussevitsky Competition.
