By David Salazar

Soprano Alexandra Flood is set to present a preview performance for the Queensland Art Song Festival.

The soprano will appear in recital on August 7, 2022 at the Queensland Conservatorium at 5 p.m. The event will be free to all audiences.

The Queensland Art Song Festival is set to inaugurate in winter of 2023 aimed at promoting art song performance and practice in Australia.

“I’m beyond excited to present QASF to local audiences in Brisbane this Sunday. Sharing my passion for Art Song has been the driving force behind the idea for this new and exciting festival for Queensland, and the community has responded so positively, especially the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University and the Brisbane City Council, who are both generously sponsoring the launch event,” Flood, who has appeared with the Opéra National de Paris, the Teatro Real de Madrid, and the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, said in an official press statement. “I know Brisbane audiences love Art Song, and I know the extremely talented and driven local students are eager for enriching Art Song learning and performance opportunities. We can’t wait.”

Flood is set to make her debut at the Sydney Opera House in recital this August and will also be performing with Opera Queensland and the Brisbane Festival.
