The Semperoper Dresden has announced a cast change for tomorrow’s performance of “Der Rosenkavalier.”

The company announced that Sophie Koch will sing the role of Octavian in April 30 showcase of “Der Rosenkavalier,” replacing Christina Bock, who is ill.

Koch recently appeared in the Ring Cycle at the Wiener Staatsoper and is set to appear at the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires and Theatre Captiole du Toulouse later this season.

She will join a cast that includes Marita Sølberg, Peter Rose, Markus Eiche, and Tuuli Takala. Omer Meir Wellber conducts the work in a production by Uwe Eric Laufenberg.

Bock returns for the final presentation of “Der Rosenkavalier” of the season on May 5, 2019. She will also interpret the Strauss opera next season at the Semperoper Dresden in four total shows. She is also slated to appear in “Nabucco,” “Alcina,” “Le Grand Macabre,” and “Cosi Fan Tutte.”
