Sophie Koch Replaces Christina Bock In Dresden’s “Der Rosenkavalier’

The Semperoper Dresden has announced a cast change for its production of “Der Rosenkavalier.”

The company announced that Sophie Koch will sing Octavian in performances on Oct. 17, 26, and 31, replacing Christina Bock.

Koch will reprise the role of Octavian which she sang in Dresden last season. She has also performed the role at the Baden Baden Festival, Wiener Staatsoper, and Teatro Municipal de Chile, among other theaters. This season the star mezzo returns to the Wiener Staatsoper, Opéra de Monte-Carlo, and Teatro Colón de Buenos Aires.

Koch joins a cast that includes in Rachel Willis-Sørensen, Albert Pesendorfer, Martin Gantner, and Nikola Hillebrand. Nikolaj Szeps-Znaider conducts the revival of Uwe Eric Laufenberg’s classic production.

Bock returns to the Semperoper Dresden in December for a production of Der goldene Drache and also sings in the new Ring Cycle for the Opéra de Paris.
