The Universal Music Fest has announced that Plácido Domingo and Sonya Yoncheva will perform at the Teatro Real.

The festival announced the surprise concert via social media noting that the concert will take place on July 17, 2022.

The concert will mark the return of Domingo at the Teatro Real after the company canceled his 2020 appearances in “La Traviata” due to allegations of sexual misconduct.

However, the company noted during its 2021-22 season presentation that it was open to Domingo returning to the Madrid stage.

Yoncheva recently performed at the Teatro Real in concerts of “Siberia”  and is set to make her role debut in “La Gioconda” at the Teatro alla Scala. Meanwhile, Domingo is at te Maggio Musicale Fiorentino where he will perform a new production of “I Due Foscari” and will celebrate his 4,100th performance.
