The Metropolitan Opera will continue its HD season with Giordano’s “Andrea Chénier.”

The opera will be screened to movie theaters on Dec. 13 and will star Sonya Yoncheva and Piotr Beczała.

They will be joined by Principal Guest Conductor Daniele Rustioni and  baritone Igor Golovatenko in Nicolas Joël’s 1996 production.

The HD will mark the first time opera is presented in Live in HD. Gary Halvorson will direct the Live in HD presentation for cinemas, and soprano Lisette Oropesa will host the transmission, sharing exclusive behind-the-scenes content and interviews during the intermissions.

OperaWire raved about the current cast stating, “The production is great but even greater was the trio of artists that headlined it.”
