Sonya Yoncheva is set to headline the reopening of Victoria Hall in Geneva on June 21.

The soprano will perform in a unique post-COVID version of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony. She will join the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, the chorus of the Grand Théâtre de Genève, and the Zürcher Sing-Akademie.

Jonathon Knott will conduct the symphony, which will also feature soloists Manuel Walser, Marie-Claude Chappuis, and Mauro Peter.

The concert will be broadcast on June 21 in collaboration with Arte TV, TV5MONDE, and SRGSSR.

Yoncheva is also set to perform at the Salzburg Festival as well as in Belgium and Germany this summer. The soprano returns to the Metropolitan Opera in 2021 for “Il Trovatore” and is also set to open the Arena di Verona next summer.
