The Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino will open its summer season with two in-concert operas.

The festival opens with Verdi’s “Un Ballo in Maschera” starring Francesco Meli, Krassimira Stoyanova, Carlos Álvarez, Enkeleda Kamani, and Judit Kutasi. Carlo Rizzi conducts two performances scheduled for July 15 and 18, 2020.

The second opera of the season will be a concert performance of Verdi’s “La Traviata.” Sonya Yoncheva sings her acclaimed interpretation of Violetta alongside Italian Francesco Demuro and legendary baritone Leo Nucci. Carlo Rizzi conducts the performance, which is scheduled for July 19.

The Teatro del Maggio will also present a Young artist concert featuring Carmen Buendía, Rosalia Cid, Valentina Corò, Nikoleta Kapetanidou, Francesca Longari, Chiara Mogini, Marilena Ruta, Julia Costa, Francesca Di Sauro, Dave Monaco, Michele Gianquinto, William Hernandez, Shuxin Li, and Francesco Samuele Venuti. The showcase is scheduled for July 14, 2020.
