Sonya Yoncheva Announces New Album ‘ĪCŌN’ with New Releases Strategy

By Francisco Salazar

Sonya Yoncheva has announced a new album titled ” ĪCŌN.”

The album will first be released on YouTube in a series of singles with visual singles.

In a statement via social media, the soprano said, “I’m thrilled to announce my new recording project ĪCŌN – from the Latin word meaning portrait – which explores the meeting point between the past and the future. In a world increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence, many of us wonder what the future of art will look like. Can technology imitate emotion? Can it replace the human artist?”

She added, “With ĪCŌN, I wanted to explore this question through the timeless beauty of bel canto. This project will first go live exclusively on YouTube, where the album will be released one aria at a time as a series of visual singles. Each piece becomes a short visual story created with the help of artificial intelligence, opening a dialogue between technology and music. While the images explore the possibilities of AI, the heart of ĪCŌN remains entirely human: the authenticity of the score, the voice, and the performance. In a world fascinated by technology, this project asks a simple question: what makes art truly alive?”

For the album Yoncheva is joined by Francesco Ivan Ciampa and Orchestra dell’Opera Carlo Felice Genova.

This album will mark Yoncheva’s there album for the SY11 label following “George” and “The Courtesan.”
