Sonya Yoncheva, Adriana Gonzalez & Jakub Józef Orliński Lead Festival Radio France Occitanie Montpellier’s 2021 Season

The Festival Radio France Occitanie Montpellier in France has announced the 2021 season.

For the purposes of this article, we will only focus on the vocal and operatic performances.

Le Concert Spirituel, under conductor Hervé Niquet, performs an all-Handel program including God Save the King.

Performance Date: July 15, 2021

Adriana Gonzalez and Thibaut Garcia join the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France and Santtu-Matias Rouvali for a program of Ponce, Romero, Villa-Lobos and Hindemith.

Performance Date: July 18, 2021

Anna Stéphany performs Folk Songs by Berio with Orchestre des Jeunes de la Méditerranée and conductor Duncan Ward. The program also includes Ravel, Kendall, and Farrenc.

Performance Date: July 22, 2021

Agathe Peyrat, Déborah Cachet, Floriane Hasler, Paul-Antoine Bénos-Djian, Nicholas Scott, Zachary Wilder, Romain Blockler, Virigile Ancely, and Renaud Delaigue perform alongside Le Poème Harmonique and conductor Vincent Dumestre in a progam entitled “Leçons de Ténèbres.”

Performance Date: July 23, 2021

Massenet’s “Bacchus” will be performed in a concert version with Catherine Hunold, John Osborn, Virginie Verrez, Nicolas Testé, and Jérôme Boutillier, among others. The Chœur and Orchestre Opéra National Montpellier Occitanie are led by Michael Schønwandt.

Jakub Józef Orliński is joined by Il Pomo d’oro and Zefira Valova for a program of music by Tolar, Conti, Almeida, Galuppi, Nucci, and more.

Performance Date: July 27, 2021

The festival closes with “Carte Blanche à Sonya Yoncheva featuring the soprano alongside the Orchestre National Montpellier Occitanie and conductor Domingo Hindoyan.
