Sony Classical has announced that it will release “Verissimo,” a new album headlined by tenor Vittorio Grigòlo and conductor Pier Giorgio Morandi leading the Czech National Symphony Orchestra.

Out April 5, 2024, the album will feature music from Boito’s “Mefistofele,” Mascagni’s “Iris,” Ponchielli’s “La Gioconda,” Cilea’s “Adriana Lecouvreur,” Giordano’s “Andrea Chénier,” Mascagni’s “Cavalleria Rusticana,” Leoncavalo’s “Pagliacci,” and numerous Puccini operas, including “La Fanciulla del West,” “Madama Butterfly,” “Il Tabarro,” and “Turandot.”

To promote the album, the company released “Ave Maria” from Mascagni’s “Cavalleria Rusticana.”

“I wanted to call it ‘Verissimo’ because, in a way, this music is so absolutely true. The feelings go straight through you – they’re not calculated. Everything happens so quickly in verismo, as in real life,” Grigòlo stated in an official press release.
