Sony Classical Announces New Jonas Kaufmann Album

Sony Classical has announced Jonas Kaufmann’s new album “Wien.”

The new album is set to be an homage to Vienna and the operetta style. The album will feature works from J.Strauss, Robert Stolz, Peter Kreuder, Hermann Leopoldi, and Georg Kreisler. The Wiener Philharmoniker joins Kaufmann in the album as well as Rachel Willis-Sørensen, who sings a number of duets with the tenor and Adam Fischer conducts.

The new CD marks the ninth solo album for Kaufmann with Sony Classical. He previously released a Verdi album, an Italian album, a French album, a Puccini album, Mahler’s “Das Lied von der Erde,” and Schubert’s “Winterreise” among others.

The company has also released a number of DVD performances from the Royal Opera, Salzburg Festival, Bayerische Staatsoper, and Metropolitan Opera.

“Wien” is set to be released on Oct. 11, 2019, in time for the holiday season.
