Sondra Radvanvosky To Headline ‘The Three Queens’ Concert At Lyric Opera Of Chicago

Sondra Radvanovsky will return to the Lyric Opera of Chicago for an evening entitled “The Three Queens.”

The concert will showcase the finales of all three “Tudor Queen” operas interpreted by Radvanovksy who has become one of the great exponents of the Donizetti operas.

During the 2015-16 season, Radvanovsky became the only artist to portray the three Tudor queens of Donizetti’s “Anna Bolena,” “Maria Stuarda,” and “Roberto Devereux” in a single New York season since Beverly Sills in the 1970s.

For the concert, Bel Canto specialist Riccardo Frizza will join the soprano at the podium with a cast of of supporting singers including mezzo-soprano Kathleen Felty, contralto Lauren Decker, tenors Eric Ferring and Mario Rojas, baritones Christopher Kenney and Ricardo José Rivera, bass-baritone David Weigel, and bass Anthony Reed.

The semi-staged production will be directed by Matthew Ozawa, while Designer Rubin Singer will create gowns fit for the characters of the three queens. Singer has been hailed by Radvanvosky stating, “Rubin is creating masterpieces! Honestly, these are pieces of art, and just beautiful gowns!”

Performances are scheduled for Dec. 1, 4, and 7, 2019.
