Sondra Radvanovsky, Tapestry Opera, Tamara Wilson Headline 2020 Dora Mavor Moore Award Nominees

The Toronto Alliance for Performing Arts has unveiled the nominees for the 2020 Dora Mavor Moore Awards.

For this article, our sole focus will be on nominations related to the opera world.

Tapestry Opera led the way with 13 nominations spread over two different projects, including three nominations apiece in the Outstanding Achievement in Design and Outstanding Performance by an Individual categories. They were also the only company with nominations in every one of the seven categories listed.

Canadian Opera Company managed 10 nominations including three nominations in the Outstanding Musical Direction category and another two in the Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble category.

Among the major opera stars to earn nominations were Sondra Radvanovsky for her work in “Rusalka” as well as Tamara Wilson for her appearance in “Turandot.”
