Sondra Radvanovsky & Saioa Hernández Step into ‘Un Ballo In Maschera’ at Teatro Real

Russian soprano Tatiana Serjan has cancelled performances as Amelia in Verdi’s “Un Ballo in Maschera” at the Teatro Real.

Per the official statement on the company’s website, the Russian soprano has withdrawn from the production due to illness.

Sondra Radvanovsky, Saioa Hernández, and María Pia Piscitelli will perform in her stead. Radvanovsky will take over the performances on Oct. 3, 6 and 11, 2020, while Hernández will perform on Sept. 16, 20 and 25, 2020. Piscitelli will appear in the role on Sept. 29 and Oct. 14, 2020.

The Teatro Real has also announced that the Italian mezzo-soprano Silvia Beltrami will replace María José Montiel in the role of Ulrica. Beltrami will alternate the role with Daniela Barcellona.

The run of “Un Ballo in Maschera” at the Teatro Real begins on Sept. 18, 2020. The cast also includes Michael Fabiano and Ramón Vargas as Riccardo, while Artur Ruciński and George Petean will alternate in the role of Renato.

The run is set to finish on Oct. 14, 2020.
