The Société de musique contemporaine du Québec (SMCQ) will open its 2026-2027 season with “Sotto Voce” on Sept. 27 at the Salle Pierre Mercure in Montreal.

Sopranos Magali Simard Galdès, Elisabeth Boudreault and Marianne Lambert will perform works by four Quebec composers with Claude Vivier’s “Bouchara,” a 1981 work for voice, at the center of the program. The concert will also feature the premiere of “Ophiolite,” a new work by Quebec composer Sébastien Goulet commissioned by the SMCQ for two sopranos.

Other works on the program include Marc Hyland’s “Laudes,” and Bruce Mather’s “Madrigal IV.”
