Sligo Baroque Music Festival Announces 2024 Season

Ireland’s Sligo Baroque Music Festival has announced its 2024 program.

The festival will be held from Sept. 27 to Sept. 29, 2024.

For the purposes of this article, we will only focus on the vocal performances.

For Culture Night in collaboration with The Hawk’s Well Theatre, the festival will present a special free concert featuring mezzo-soprano  Sharon Carty in a baroque gala recital at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.

Performance Date: Sept. 20, 2024 – Pre Festival Event

The Sligo Academy of Music will perform alongside Sligo Baroque Orchestra. They will perform pieces from Vivaldi’s “Four
Seasons,” Purcell’s “Fairy Queen,” and Handel’s aria “Lascia ch’io pianga.” There will also be music by Fasch and Telemann.

Performance Date: Sept. 29 @ The Model

Purcell’s “The Fairy Queen” will feature a cast of early-career Irish singers, and the musicians of London Handel Players and the Croatian Baroque Ensemble.
