SKANI to Release Inga Kalna’s Upcoming Album

The Latvian label SKANi is set to release the debut album from soprano Inga Kalna.

The soprano recorded the album will her longtime collaborator, the London-based Latvian pianist Diana Ketler, at the Great Amber (“Lielais dzintars”) Concert Hall in Liepāja, Latvia, in July 2020.

Kalna and Ketler recorded music of Richard Strauss and paired it with rarely performed songs of Latvian composers Alfrēds Kalniņš (1879–1951) and Jānis Mediņš (1890–1966). The album is set to trace the connections in Art Nouveau aesthetics between the great German composer and his Latvian counterparts.

Kalna has performed as a soloist with the Latvian National Opera and the Hamburg State Opera. She has also performed at the Vienna State Opera, the Opéra National de Paris, La Monnaie in Brussels, La Scala in Milan, the Salzburg Festiva andl, the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow.

The album is set to be released on Jan. 15, 2020.
