Opéra de Monte-Carlo has announced the cancelation of a previously scheduled recital featuring famed British bass-baritone Sir Bryn Terfel due to the COVID-19 travel restrictions.

The recital, which was set to take place on Feb. 24 2021, would have featured works by Franz Schubert, Robert Schumann, Benjamin Britten, Marcel Grandjany, Claude Debussy, and Roger Quilter.

Per the same press release, the opera house has confirmed upcoming performances of Rossini’s opera “Le Comte Ory” between Feb. 19 and Feb. 25, 2021.

Sir Bryn Terfel recently interpreted the role of Baron Scarpia in Puccini’s “Tosca” at the Bayerische Staatsoper and Wiener Staatsoper, and the title role in Donizetti’s “Don Pasquale” at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden.

The celebrated bass-baritone is scheduled to return to the stage in the title role in Verdi’s “Falstaff” at the Grange Park Opera in June and July 2021. Terfel is also slated to appear in the title role in Wagner’s “Der Fliegende Holländer” at the Bayerische Staatsoper in July 2021.
