Sir Bryn Terfel has canceled his recital at Carnegie Hall on Feb. 9, 2020.

Carnegie Hall announced that “Sir Bryn Terfel must regretfully cancel this performance due to a severe foot injury that requires surgery, rendering him unable to travel. Concertgoers should retain their tickets, pending a possible updated artist and program for this date. Ticket holders with questions may contact CarnegieCharge at 212-247-7800.”

Terfel was expected to perform alongside Natalia Katyukova in a program of songs by Ireland, Brahms, Schumann, Vaughn Williams and Quilter.

The bass-baritone already canceled his recital at the Lyric Opera of Chicago, which was set for Feb. 2.

On Jan. 27, Terfel fell and fractured his ankle while working on a production for “The Flying Dutchman” in Bilbao. He will need surgery to help in his recovery.

He is still scheduled to return to the Metropolitan Opera for a production of “The Flying Dutchman,” which opens on March 2, 2020.
