Siobhan Stagg Appointed to Melba Opera Trust Board of Directors

By Logan Martell

Melba Opera Trust has announced that Siobhan Stagg has been appointed to the company’s Board of Directors, effective November 10, 2020.

The Australian soprano’s relationship with MOT began when she was awarded their Amelia Joscelyne Memorial Scholarship in 2009. She went on to develop her career abroad and has been involved with Opera Europa’s Opera Management Course, as well as the League of American Orchestras’ National Conference.

“Siobhan has a tremendous knowledge of and experience in the performing arts, and a strong understanding of governance requirements for not-for-profit organizations,” writes Chair Roz Zalweski-Ruskin in a press release. “With these attributes, Siobhan will make a valuable contribution to the future of Melba Opera Trust. We look forward to Siobhan joining us at Melba events when she is in Australia, and to introducing us to valuable international networks and perspectives when she is at home in Berlin.”

Stagg has performed with such companies as the Hamburg State Opera, Berliner Philharmoniker, Bayerische Staatsoper, Grand Théâtre de Genève, Dutch National Opera (Amsterdam), BBC Proms and London’s Royal Opera House Covent Garden, among others.
