Sinfonietta Bel Canto is presenting a rare fully staged production of John Philip Sousa’s comic operetta “El Capitan” on May 16 and 17, 2026.

The production, set to take the stage at St. Paul’s UCC Church in Downers Grove, Illinois, features VH Dance Company, choreographed by Bryn Michaels. The cast includes sopranos Danielle York Miller and Dora Rivera, mezzo-soprano SarahAnn Sutter, tenors Carlos Esturain and Grant Yosenick, and basses Matt Alfrey, Craig Fisher, and Matthew Stephens, among others.

Performances take place at 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 16 and 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 17.
