Simon O’Neill, Elisabeth Teige, Jaap van Zweden Headline Hong Kong Philharmonic’s 2020-21 Season

The Hong Kong Philharmonic has announced its 47th anniversary season.

For this article, the focus will be on vocal performances.

Jaap van Zweden conducts Beethoven’s Leonore Overture and Symphony No. 9. The concert will also include the Taipei Philharmonic Chorus.

Performance Dates: Oct. 2 & 3, 2020

Elisabeth Teige, Simon O’Neill, Matthias Goerne, Jong-Min Park, Valentina Farcas, Paul Schweinester, and Frederik Bergman star in a concert performance of Beethoven’s “Fidelio” with Jaap van Zweden conducting.

Performance Dates: Oct. 15 & 17, 2020

Jaap van Zweden celebrates his 60th birthday with Joshua Bell and the Hong Kong Philharmonic Chorus. The concert includes music by Beethoven, Wagner, and Kai-young Chan.

Performance Date: Dec. 23, 2020

Apollo Wong conducts Christmas Fantasia with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Chorus and The Hong Kong Children’s Choir. The program will include music by Tchaikovsky, Anderson, Gounod, Handel, and Hisaishi.

Performance Date: Dec. 24, 2020

Massimo Zanetti and Louise Kwong celebrate the New Year’s with music by Strauss, Verdi, and Rossini.

Performance Dates: Dec. 30 & 31, 2020

Ralf Otto conducts Brahms’ German Requiem with Christina Gansch, and Thomas E. Bauer.

Performance Dates: April 10 & 11, 2021
