Simon Keenlyside, Thomas Hampson, Barbara Hannigan, Josefina Maldonado Headline The Cleveland Orchestra’s 2023-24 Season

The Cleveland Orchestra has announced its 2023-24 season.

For the purposes of this article, our focus will be solely on vocal performances.

The season opens with performances of “Amadeus” featuring The Cleveland Orchestra Chorus. Richard Kaufman conducts.

Performance Dates: Sept. 21 – 24, 2023

Simon Keenlyside leads a program featuring music by Mahler. Franz Welser-Möst conducts.

Performance Dates: Oct. 12 & 13, 2023

Barbara Hannigan conducts The Cleveland Orchestra in a performance featuring music by Haydn, Vivier, Ligeti, and Strauss. The showcase will feature the debut of soprano Aphrodite Patoulidou.

Performance Dates: Nov. 9 -11, 2023 

Soprano Lauren Snouffer stars in Mahler’s Symphony No. 4 and music by Jolas. Daniel Harding conducts.

Performance Dates: Nov. 30 – Dec. 2, 2023 

George Benjamin leads a performance featuring music by Ammann, Benjamin, Knussen, and Ravel. The showcase stars countertenor Tim Mead and Women of The Cleveland Orchestra Chorus.

Performance Dates: Feb. 15 & 17, 2024

Mezzo-soprano Josefina Maldonado stars in a program featuring music by Perry, Rautavaara, and Sibelius. Dalia Stasevska conducts.

Performance Dates: March 21 – 23, 2024

Thomas Hampson performs music by López and Walton. The showcase also features Sol Gabetta performing the Elgar Cello Concerto. Klaus Mäkelä conducts.

Performance Dates: April 11 – 13, 2024 

Evgeny Kissin and Matthias Goerne perform music by Schumann and Brahms.

Performance Dates: April 14, 2024 

Franz Welser-Möst conducts “The Magic Flute” with a cast starring Julien Prégariden, Ludwig Mittlehammer, and Christina Landshamer. Nikolaus Habjan directs.

Performance Dates: May 16 – 26, 2024
