Simon Keenlyside & Ellen Pearson to Headline Closing Night of LIFE Victoria

By David Salazar

There will be two major performances to close out LIFE Victoria’s 2025-26 season.

At 7 p.m. on May 26, 2026, mezzo-soprano Ellen Pearson and pianist Francesca Lauri, both associated with the Oxford International Song Festival, will make their LIFE Victoria debuts with a recital exploring the theme of youth through works by Satie, Fauré, Hahn, Schubert, Brahms, Strauss, Lehmann, and Coleridge-Taylor.

Then at 8 p.m, baritone Simon Keenlyside and pianist Malcolm Martineau will headline the closing recital of the LIFE Victoria 2025-26 season at the Sala Domènech i Montaner of the Sant Pau Recinte Modernista in Barcelona. The recital marks the pair’s third appearance in the Cicle de Lied Victoria de los Ángeles. Their program spans French mélodie by Fauré and Poulenc, symphonic Lied by Wagner, and English song by Butterworth, Warlock, and Gurney.

The evening also comes in the shadow of a recent loss. The Fundació Victoria de los Ángeles has announced that it will dedicate its next season to the memory of Dame Felicity Lott, the British soprano who died on May 15 at the age of 79.
